If this is your first time using this medication and you have not switched from another form of hormonal contraceptive (such as the patch or another contraceptive), take the first pill from the pack on the first Sunday after menstruation begins or on Day 1 of menstruation. If your period comes on a Sunday, start taking this drink on that day. For the first cycle of use only, non-restrictive contraceptive methods (condoms, spermicides, etc.) should be used for the first 7 days to prevent pregnancy until the medication is fully effective. If the period begins on the first day of menstruation, no contraception is required during the first week.
Do not use this medication if you smoke/use cigarettes or are over 35 years of age. Smoking increases the risk of heart attack, myocardial infarction, blood clots, and high blood pressure from hormonal contraceptives (pills, spots, rings, etc.). This risk increases with age and amount smoked. Do not smoke or use tobacco.
WARNING: Do not smoke or use tobacco.
