Viral Post “How to Beat the New Coronavirus at Home” Reveals Problematic Tips
Not all statements in the post lack a theoretical basis, but their application to home care for novel coronavirus infections is grossly misguided.
Alex Kasprak
Published December 29, 2020
Snopes continues to fight the “infodemics” rumors and misinformation surrounding the pandemic of novel coronavirus infection. You can help, too. See what we’ve learned and how to protect yourself from Covid-19 misinformation. Read our latest vaccine case study. Report any unclear rumors or “advice” you find. Help us introduce more preliminary trials as a founding participant. And follow the CDC or whoever is charged with protecting your community from this disease.
We refer to words repeatedly copied and jammed onto several digital platforms such as “CopyPaste,” a key feature of Covid-19 Pandemics and related disinformation, and a method often considered incorrect and unsafe We often claimed that anonymous sources had “prior knowledge” about the As always, we remind our readers that online anonymous explanations are not considered honest, effective, or harmless!
Written at the end of December 2020, presumably by someone who “got sick in November” and received information from a medical sister on how to tackle the disease “in a family situation,” some of the copy-paste viruses:
How to Fight Covid at Home.
No one talks about how to deal with Covid at home.
In November, my partner became ill with covid. She went to the clinic with a fever of 103, heart palpitations, and other common symptoms of covid. There she was treated for high fever, dehydration, and pneumonia. The doctor sent home to fight the cobid with two recipes featuring azitromycin 250 mg and dexamethasone (original) 6 mg. When the nurse came to dismiss her, she asked the question: “What can I arrange to fight this at home?”

There seem to be many restrictions on post-hospitalization recovery in the narrative design post, but the title suggests or misleads the title – and the reader who thinks these recommendations are intended to prevent or heal. absence or prior to hospitalization. This last interpretation provides a more problematic way to view these services.
In some cases, the recommendations have a scientific basis but are misused in home care. In other cases, the information is completely wrong. In general, experts are of the opinion that the post threatens to give really sick people an excuse to postpone professional help that could save their lives. Below we review point by point.
Sleep on your stomach.
The message states that it is the right way to go:
With Covid you should always sleep on your stomach. If you cannot sleep on your stomach due to health issues, side with me. Do not lie on your back as this may damage your lower abdomen and allow water to seep in.
This advice does not apply to home care. In the medical world, placing the patient on the stomach (back position) ved of respiratory assessment is as a producer. The previous data of Covid-19 pandemy obtained from patients with acute respiratory dis- pression syndrome (ARDS) allows us to assume that patients requiring ventilation may benefit from the branch criteria of activity therapy in case of prolonged time in the back position. of Covid-19 with the history of ICU. Limited sensory research in volume cases still implies benefit.
There are clinical studies to investigate this issue, yet there is little evidence of benefit for those who do not personally seek ventilation. If you need ventilation, you don’t have to be. It emphasizes trying to take care of your home. David Vines, a key researcher in the Covid-19 study on ventilation in more adaptive cases, told Snopes in an email that they have participated in 200 patients so far and “see no significant trends in favor or harm.
He said that “the problem with a population that is putting in place home positions to alleviate symptoms is that the implementation of this technique “can delay proven medical support.” In their deaths, he stressed that “anyone who is unable to breathe, blue lips, and stay awake must seek immediate emergency help.”
Exercise
Create and also post an uncorrected description of sleeping in the back position.
While sleeping on your stomach, set your watch to every two hours, get out of bed and proceed in the direction of 15 to 30 minutes. Frequent arm movements will help you discover that you are not heavy.
Go through your beak and out of your mouth. This will certainly make you sincere and also help you free yourself from pneumonia and other water you may have. If you are sitting in a chair, sit upright – do not postpone to the chair, this broke your lower abdomen also. While watching TV – get up and walk around during all the marketing video clips.
This is important advice, at least as formulated here. The idea that you are obligated to exercise even if you feel very “tired or weak” goes against literally every medical recommendation regarding breathing and covid-19. According to Joseph Habaz, a respiratory physician at the Cleveland Clinic, dyspneu of major events, such as a short walk, is considered an indicator that competent medical support is needed.
The most important indicator for a trip to the clinic is shortness of breath – this is an empty term. However, if you are walking from your bedroom to the bathroom and notice that you are short of breath, that is not a bad indicator that you may not be long. With air rates so low, you can still spend a short amount of time in the air. Non-energetic people do not have the opportunity to get enough air to perform small tasks such as going to the bathroom. This is really very important. Because this microbe can kill people – it is the lack of breath that ends up in the fan. Early recognition of this is greater than all others.
In general, recommendations regarding breathing exercises will probably be more important for those who have spent time in active treatment departments during their Covid-19 illness. For example, experts at the Johns Hopkins Rehabilitation Network advise exercises during recovery after hospitalization for Covid-19, because prolonged time on a ventilator weakens the muscles in the non-tight mid-region. Some of these exercises include arm movements that build up air capacity in non-close areas. Again, even with recovery, the idea that you are obligated to work through fatigue is unsafe. In the page about respiratory exercises from the facility Hopkins makes that clear:
When recovering from a respiratory illness such as Covid-19 , it is fundamentally important to hasten your recovery. If you can finish an exercise without repeating it or breathing very much, then move on to the next step.
Cold Drink
Post then continued with cold drinks.
Pedialyte, Gatorade Zero, Powerade Zero & amp; electrolyte water to avoid dehydration. Do not drink ice cold – take it at room temperature or keep it warm. Water with lemon and a little honey, peppermint tea, or apple cider is not a bad suggestion for getting water.
In general, the presence of hydration is essential to maintain health and to replace fluids lost during fever. That is why the question of water and electrolytes is not considered controversial. Hydration and electrolytes are also considered important for Covid-19 recovery. However, the problem arises with the claim that the drinks used for hydration do not need to be cool.
Jennifer Nuzzo, a senior scientist at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Protection, makes it clear that frozen water is harmful in the context of the March 20, 2020 edition of the Johns Hopkins “Public on Call” podcast. She told listeners, “It is claimed that when people drink cold water, their non-gravitational organs become fibrotic,” she referred to it in terms of non-serious materials showing scarring and deterioration. I am trying to make it clear that there is virtually no evidence to support these claims.”
Eat
As far as food is concerned, Vasten stated
I eat at least one or two eggs a day, as well as bananas, avocados, and asparagus. Drink smoothies with blueberries, strawberries, bananas, honey, tea, and a spoon or peanut butter.
From a healing perspective, these are all great foods, and almost all are included in the list specifically designed for Covid-19’s restorative diet created by the medical staff. However, these suggestions do not go far enough to be considered effective in preventing infection. While there may be a relationship between low potassium content in the blood and uncomplicated covid formulations, this precedent should not prove that raising potassium uptake is effective in preventing Covid-19.
Products to Avoid
Copypasta Post states that people recovering from Covid-19 should not drink dairy products or eat pork. This information is not supported by any reputable source. As for dairy products, in addition to many other things during Covid-19 recovery, contrary to the various ample sources that apparently seem to advise against dairy products. for covid there has long been a misconception that dairy products are non-potent and make more mucus, which is not true. However, dairy products make the existing slime thicker, making itself more irritating and possibly not contributing to production.
As far as pork is concerned, it is not clear what the makers of the viral post are referring to. Some practitioners of other drugs believe that pork can promote “humidity” and mucus, but this is not supported by scientific research. The banning of pork as a protein source does not appear to be supported by medical advice regarding Covid-19, although a certain amount of processed pork may be counterproductive in the area of well-being. The Special Projects clinic in New York recommends pork chops as a source of zinc-containing meat.
Vitamins and Probiotics
Speaking of zinc, Viral Copypasta recommends “vitamins D3, C, B, and zinc” and a daily probiotic; in terms of healing after Covid-19 infection, this advice is not entirely controversial, but dietary adjustments during Covid-19 treatment should be made by professional medical care.
However, this advice is problematic if it is interpreted as a way to “strengthen” the immune system in this way to prevent infection by Covid-19. This idea is based on a faulty understanding of how the immune system works. According to Amesh Adalja, a senior researcher at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Protection, “There is virtually no evidence that you can strengthen your own immune system by taking a specific vitamin or supplement.
Non-Prescription Drugs
This message still underscores the many recipes for prescription drugs.
Tylenol for fever. Mucinex, or Mucinex DM for drainage, can even cough. pepcid can help against your leg cramps. Daily, BabyAspirientJe helps prevent blood clots that may result from energy.
The use of non-prescription dosage medications, even this should be informed by advice from a doctor, nurse, or pharmacist, not by an online message. Both Tylenol, which lowers fever, and Mucinex, which reduces mucus, are commonly used to treat symptoms associated with various viral or bacterial infections. The use of PEPCID (stomach acid inhibitors used to cure stomach acid-related disorders) for leg cramps is, as we know, supported by every study, unless the product is approved for this purpose.
As far as aspirin is concerned, the data suggest that patients with COVID-19 will clot more easily. Hopkins Adalji, quoted on the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health website, said, “People with coronavirus will probably clot more easily. With regard to the use of aspirin to prevent complications as a result of clotting, evidence suggests that restrictions may reduce mortality in cases of coronavirus that require urgent hospitalization. However, there is currently insufficient evidence regarding its use in more resistant cases or in the event of recovery criteria that are not included in the hospital. As always, a physician should be consulted before initiating a systematic aspirin schedule for any purpose, as it may lead to other complications.
The lower limit
If the post is interpreted as a presentation of the agreement made for those brought to the hospital with Covid-19 for further treatment, the post passes the goal in the various cases mentioned above. However, if the message is interpreted as a way to ensure that people are protected at home without having to go to a clinic, the message is unsafe because it promotes the perception that medical assistance may be sought in situations of need. All in all, not taking medical advice from a post that ends with “copy-paste and share” is not a bad memory.

Home Coronavirus Drug Summary
There are no coronavirus medications. However, there are medications that have a good chance of helping with the signs of lodging.
The modern pharmacology of Covid-19 seems to change daily.
Medical professionals around the world are sharing as much information as they can while the race is on to find a drug that will suppress coronavirus pandemics.
It’s his own family Van Norton. Over the past four months, there have been more than 2000 publications for Covid-19 related therapies. The disease descriptions are simply reckless data, and unfortunately none of them contain the highest quality. Matthew Miller, who holds a doctorate in pharmacy and is considered a clinical expert in pharmacy at Colorado Institute’s Colorado Research Hospital and Colorado Institute, both on the Anschutz Medical Campus.
Miller is currently sharing his own state of knowledge with Uchealth on March 23. He looked at two aspects of Covid-19, the specific coronavirus drug that causes SARS-COV-2: a drug that a person stained with the virus can ingest at home to simplify symptoms, and a drug used by hospital employees that contains the drug used in critical cases.
Try this at home.
In about 80% of cases of coronavirus, hospitalization is not required; information on testing with Uchealth’s Covid-19 can be found here. You may be concerned if you are familiar with whether or not the majority of cases identified in support of the test are in the analysis. Treat symptoms as you would at the SPIC angle, adding important care to hand hygiene and disinfecting the home to prevent the coronavirus from spreading to others in the family, Miller says.
- Water or other clear liquids (the caffeine in coffee, colas, and almost all teas is supposed to be a mild diuretic, which reduces its moisturizing effect). Those with the highest fevers are more likely to lose more fluids,” Miller says.
- Analgesics and fever reducers, including NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, need to be sorted out; a March 11 article in the English medical journal The Lancet raised temporary alarm about the hypothetical possibility that ibuprofen/NSAIDs are seen as a barrier to Covid-19 healing . This has since been contradicted by the World Health Organization and the Food and Drug Administration. Anyway, with the exception of patients with impairments that preclude ibuprofen or other NSAIDs (kidney damage, hypertension, etc.), “there is no specific reason to ignore NSAIDs,” Miller said.
- Tablets, cough suppressants, and freely available medications such as dextromethorphan (such as Robitussin) and guafenecin (such as Mucinex) often have the opportunity to help with coughs that accompany Covid-19. dexstromethorphan can help with coughs, and it can also help with coughing. Dexstromethorphan may be the choice for dry coughs for which Covid-19 is better known. Guafenecin is for wetter coughs. Both of several formulations are included. Again, the idea is to make better signs – none of them will resolve the most important microbes.
- Sinus congestion and watery mouth are not considered common symptoms, but freely available reversal medications can help here.
- Zinc extractions (or not) can help reduce replication of microbes in the nose and throat, but their effectiveness in SARS-Cov-2 has not yet been proven.
- Miller noted that those who observe ACE inhibitors or ARBs for cardiovascular challenges continue to be, to some extent, “the highest value of patient care for diagnosed patients,” referring to a March 17 statement from the Heart Institute of South America. Covid-19 is a major value, but there is no experience or clinical data showing desirable or negative outcomes among patients with Covid-19 who use ACE-I or ARB drugs.” The statement adds the reservation that the recommendation could change depending on the best realization of Covid-19 in these patients.
Miller says it is possible for a public pharmacist to help recommend a specific product for a particular patient. However, he encourages those who have signs to send proxies for space requests. People who show signs of illness, such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath, should stay home and quarantine themselves to avoid infecting others, as Covid-19 has proven to be highly contagious.
