Most people have the opportunity to get enough vitamin B12 through their menus. However, some people have nonsense deficiencies and may need to get their personal B12 through injections. Deficiencies can be caused by disorders such as digestive problems, infections responsible, and cancer; joint signs of B12 deficiency are stomach complaints, anemia, and nerve damage. Injections are often administered by a health care professional, but it is still possible to do it yourself.Find out how to control B12 injections.

Precautions for giving vitamin B12 injections in advance

If someone decides to do B12 injections on their own, they should consult their doctor or pharmacist.

  • Some medical problems, such as gout, low potassium content, folic acid and iron deficiency, eye problems or blood disorders, may make it unwise to inject.
  • B12 injections often have inactive ingredients such as cobalt which can cause allergic reactions in some people. Another possible problematic inactive ingredient is aluminum, which, if it can accumulate in the body, can cause serious problems, including muscle imagery, cognitive problems, and bone problems. Aluminum can have a faster effect on people with poorly functioning kidneys.
  • B12 can interact with other medications and supplements you are already taking. For example, if you use blood or caloric supplements that affect production, you should not receive B12 injections unless you have discussed this with your physician.
  • Because B12 injections can lead to fetal risks, pregnant women should only receive B12 injections after consultation with a midwife. This way, all the good qualities and risks can be carefully measured and weighed against each other; since B12 may continue to be transferred to breast milk, it is essential to consult a physician before using it.

How do you place B12 injections? First, you must select the appropriate website and injection method.

Injection

There are four locations that are more appropriate than others for receiving B12 injections. Regardless of which injection site is selected, the physician must arrange the first injection to keep the problem under control.

  • The first possible location is the butt crack or more directly the dorsogluteus. The last location, but not the least, requires great care because the hip nerve and almost all blood vessels are in this joint area. If injections are not properly placed this can cause serious problems.
  • The second room is the delta muscles of the upper arm. This location can only be used in persons with fully developed delta muscles and with doses of B12 less than 1 mL.
  • The third is the external thigh. The side of the body below the thigh is considered a perfect injection site because there are no vital nerves or blood vessels that could be damaged or cause pain during injection.
  • The fourth and final site is the quadriceps muscle of the thigh. The thigh is still considered a good location for muscle and fat in this area. Apart from that, this space is simply to include self-maintenance.

Injection Methods

The method of controlling the injection of B12 depends on the chosen injection method; the two most important methods are subcutaneous and intramuscular.

  • In the subcutaneous method, the dose of B12 is administered over the muscle under the skin. To administer this infusion, the needle must be placed into the cadaver at a 45 degree angle. Because of the difficulty of this injection method, it is not used. When using the subcutaneous method, the shoulder is considered the ideal injection site.
  • The intramuscular method is considered the more common method; B12 is injected into the muscle, where it is immediately absorbed by the body. This method requires the needle to be inserted perpendicular to the skin. The plunger is then pulled back slightly to see if blood is drawn. If blood is present, the needle has punctured a blood vessel and another injection site should be found by following these steps. If there is no blood, slowly push the plunger until all B12 is injected into the muscle.

B12 Injection Procedure

Below are step-by-step instructions for adjusting the B12 injection.

  • Step 1: Prepare the appropriate supplies: absorbent cotton, syringe, B12 solution, alcohol, rubbing alcohol, gloves, and a new hypodermic needle. Make sure all supplies are sterile, not regular, and wash your hands before beginning the injection.
  • Step 2: Disinfect the injection site and B12 solution with alcohol and a cotton swab and allow to dry.
  • Step 3: Open the syringe needle; turn the bottle containing the B12 solution upside down and insert the needle into the bottle. Pull the plunger to fill the syringe with the desired dose.
  • Step 4: Remove the needle from the vial and hold it towards the needle. Press gently on the plunger and wipe gently with your finger to expel any air bubbles.
  • Step 5: With your free hand, pull on the skin where you want to inject so that the skin does not penetrate and peel away. This will facilitate injection.
  • Step 6: Insert the needle and pull out the plunger, making sure no blood is drawn in. If no blood is present, slowly depress the plunger until the full amount of B12 is injected.
  • Step 7: Remove the needle at the same injection angle. Immediately place a cotton ball on the affected area to stop bleeding.
  • Step 8: Dispose of the needle, swab, and syringe in an appropriate waste container.
