In 2021, the average price of Lasik Eye laser treatments in the United States will be about $2246 per eye, according to USA PER EYE’s market report on the size of last year’s data, which was prepared for All About Vision.
The cost typically comes from the ophthalmologist performing the Lasik operation and other eye correction procedures such as PRK, smile, and refractive lens replacement.
The actual cost paid for Lasik depends on a variety of factors, including the skill and reputation of the physician and the imaging technology used during the procedure.
Lasik costs will likely vary from technology to technology
Most refractive physicians in the United States (over 71% in 2019) charge 1 for every vision correction procedure performed with an excimer laser that alters the cornea of the eye.
In other words, additional developments, such as the introduction of a femtosecond laser to create a flap in the cornea for Lasik, are integrated into the 1 fee and not priced separately as “additional.”
Other Lasik physicians, however, base their own costs on the specific technology used during the procedure. For example, they can charge more for Lasik or Custom Lasik using wavefront technology for more personalized procedures.
A small percentage of physicians base the cost of laser surgery on the strength of the prescription. At these rates, patients with stronger recipes pay more than those with weaker recipes.

- The offer price does not cover all costs. For example, you may need to make a limited number of follow-up visits. Or, if there are problems after the operation, additional support may cost extra. Additionally, the price of further operations is probably not included and may require an additional fee for the initial consultation.
- Interventions can be implemented by supporting older technology. Newer technology can provide more correct LASIK functionality with the lowest risk of complications. For example, at $499 per eye, you probably would not get customized or fat-free (all laser) LASIK. Instead, the surgeon will probably use a small knife to create a flap in the cornea.
- Your doctor is not that competent; a surgeon who has been performing the Lasik operation for several years will typically charge less than someone who has been doing it for 10 or 20 years.

You can make Lasik more affordable. Some eye care organizations offer special costs and incentives for Lasik and other eye surgeries.

Another option is to contribute tax-free money to a Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for LASIK surgery; to qualify for an HSA, you must be enrolled in a high deductible health plan (HDHP) at work.
You can contribute up to the one-year limit for 2021 ($3,600 for individual coverage and $7,200 for homeowners coverage) to an individual HSA each pay period. Also, unlike FSAs, any unused funds in the HSA are “rolled over” at the end of the year so they can be used in the appropriate year or in future years.
Depending on your budget, contributing to an HSA for two or more years can save you enough money to pay for the full cost of LASIK surgery.

Insurance Covered LASIK Costs
Each vision insurance project can guarantee slightly different benefits. Note that your family doctor’s insurance may have contracted with some of these Vision Intentions to provide coverage.
If you already have health insurance, you can contact the company to see if they offer coverage.
The following is an overview of what the various insurance intents offer
VSP
VSP Vision Care guarantees 15% to 20% of the normal cost or 5% of the marketing price.
In accordance with this intent, members pay no more than $1,800 USA per eye for traditional Lasik and $2, 300 for adapted Lasik. Improvements or touch-ups will be integrated at no additional cost.
Vision
Eyemed guarantees a 15% bonus on regular Lasik costs or a 5% bonus on marketing costs.
They still offer an $800 discount on adapted Lasik Healing, but it cannot be combined with other bonuses. Charitable improvements on most Lasik procedures are indefinite.
Eyemed members have the opportunity to access this Lasik excellence data through the U.S. Laser Network, which works with more than 600 Lasik physicians nationwide.
Davis Vision
Davis Vision is working with Qualsight to offer members a 40-50% discount on traditional Lasik procedures compared to government rates.
They are still offering significant bonuses on adapted or no-glow Lasik procedures.
According to Davis Vision, their members pay less than $1,000 per eye for traditional Lasik. They pay about $1, 400 per eye for customized Lasik; Qualsight has an unselectable network of 1,000 Lasik doctors to choose from.
Meth Vision
Mesvision works with Qualsight to offer the Lasik advantage.
Discounts are similar to Davis Vision discounts; Mesvision also works with Lasikplus, another network of Lasik providers; Lasikplus offers discounts of $800 or up to 20% on certain Lasik procedures.
Spester.
Spectera Vision Insurance is offered by United Health Care. They are still working with Qualsight to offer their own Lasik bonus. Traditional Lasik businesses can receive a 40% to 50% discount.
Can I use my personal FSA or HSA with Lasik?
A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) can help cover elective procedures such as Lasik.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
An FSA allows you to defer medical expenses before taxes. You can find an FSA through your employer if they offer this option. You may be able to use your personal FSA to pay for eye corrections, but it may not cover the full feature.
Health Savings Account (HSA)
If you are independent, you cannot set up an FSA. An HSA, which is a savings account for medical expenses, is possible. You can use your personal HSA to pay for Lasik, Exe Exmants, and other eye care procedures.
